A little about us

SMART (Stress Management Awareness Response Team) Peer to Peer, Inc. of Schoharie County (NY) was founded by local first responders in 2022. The goal of the team is to offer a holistic and compassion centered approach to assisting first responders in coping with the impact of cumulative stress and concerns related to the situations they encounter both directly and indirectly. Services are 100% free to all who seek help and all team members are themselves current or past first responders and are trained to the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. standard, through certified trainers in conjunction with the University of Maryland.

What we do

SMART Peer to Peer, Inc. is a registered 503c non-profit organization (SMART Peer to Peer, Inc. tax ID # 93-2857739) made up of a wide array of current, former or closely related first responder volunteers from Schoharie County agencies.
It is important to note; Peer Support is NOT counseling. Members are trained to a support level and are not professional counselors, clinicians or therapists. However, the organization raises awareness of first responder related stress, and warning signs, and utilizes its abilities to help connect those in need with professional services when needed.
